Lily Giannoni is a comedy writer, filmmaker, actress and engineer who can next be seen in Gabriel de Varona’s feature debut The Old Man And The Parrot starring Ruben Rabasa, premiering at Slamdance Film Festival. Lily’s short film “Siblings” which she wrote, directed, and starred in will be doing the festival circuit in the fall of this year.
While making a living working as a technician and engineer at a tech startup, Lily taught herself to use camera, sound and lighting equipment. As a side hustle, she worked freelance in every department on short and feature film sets in order to better understand every aspect of filmmaking. Since then, Lily has co-created a sketch comedy web series called Secret Spot and has written and directed several short films including BUG, which was selected at 5 different film festivals around the country, including FilmQuest and Big Apple Film Festival. Eager to learn and make things happen, Lily also acted as co-director and script consultant for an original comedy cabaret titled ‘Allergic to Being Alive’ which premiered at The Caveat theater in NYC.
Born and raised in the Hudson Valley, Lily studied dramatic writing at Purchase College as well as sketch comedy and improv at UCB, The Peoples Improv Theater and The Groundlings. When she isn’t making jokes and making movies, she works as a Visual Media Engineer at Seton Hall University, where she is also working toward a Masters degree in Professional Communications and Digital Media Arts. As her thesis project, she will be indulging in her love of punk and ska music, developing her first feature film: a music focused, female led, buddy comedy.
